I could not get to school much this past week for personal reasons, so I am not really sure how to do this; but I did the readings so I'll try. I enjoyed the readings from this week. I can't pick just one because i kind of liked every one of them. It was all about forming an identity which is a pretty cool topic because one trying to analyze who they are can be difficult. In the September 11th essay, it was just three pictures of tattoos dedicated to the memory of victims of that day. I think it takes a lot of guts to do something like that. People who feel so strongly about that day that can put in on themselves to honor it forever is a sign of true American. That isn't to say that anyone who remembers that day isn't one. But, I just think it is pretty neat for someone to get tattoos like that because it shows a real honor and loyalty to something which is a huge step in forming an identity. I also liked the Avatar essay. I'm not much of a "gamer", but I have always wondered what it would be like to be one. I feel like it would be really fun to lead two lives, even if it is just on a computer screen. I've heard people say that "gamers" are only compensating because they can't handle the real world. I completely disagree with that. Games are fun, and a really good stress relief. Sometimes it is just nice to go home and take just five minutes to forget about the reality and stress. And this is a great way to do it. I hope to try one of these games one day, maybe World of Warcraft. I've always been intrigued by that game because it is such a fascinating idea that involves so much action, but allows you to do other things to like trading, buying, and being promoted through levels, which is pretty awesome. After a while, being promoted in the game can feel like a real achievement, so why not do something that gives you enjoyment. It is like in Pokemon when I used to get super pumped when my pokemon would evolve through levels. It is exciting, so people who hate on "gamers" should try it some time I guess, like i hope to soon.
